Feng Shui is an ancient Chinese philosophy that is based on the principles of harnessing natural elements along with spatial arrangements to create the proper flow of energy in your living and working environment to create peace, harmony, prosperity, health and wealth. This energy (sometimes called the electromagnetic field) is called chi and is said to be the life force that unites mind, body, and spirit.
In a nutshell, feng shui is based on the idea that we are affected by our surroundings and therefore establishes some solid design and decorating principles that, when put into practice, make the flow and feel of a space make sense.

never place your bed directly in front of the door. this position is known as the coffin position and, as the name suggests, it brings bad luck.
Do not place your bed directly under or in front of a window. Chi, or life force, is said to come and go from a room through a window, and if your bed is under the window, your chi will disappear.
do not place the mattress on the floor, this impedes the flow of chi.
2) remove clutter
It is said that a messy and overly cluttered bedroom creates feelings of restlessness and anxiety. clutter represents unfinished business and a resistance to change and progress. the more furniture and clutter in your bedroom, the more energy flow is blocked. keep your bedroom tidy and well organized. make sure there is a place for everything, no clothes lying on the floor or on furniture. store dirty clothes in a laundry basket. make sure your bedroom is also a dust free environment as this will affect chi.

color has a huge effect on how we respond to our surroundings. As the bedroom is a place of stillness and tranquility, it is very important to choose calming colors. muted tones, pastels and natural colors are best. they will improve chi and keep your mind calm.
4) gadget-free zone
chi is destroyed by electricity. It is vital to keep computers and cell phones out of the bedroom as they completely deplete and destroy the natural life force that you have worked so hard to enhance by applying feng shui principles. The bedroom should be a place where you go to disconnect from the stresses and strains of the world, so make sure there are no other electrical devices plugged in other than lights.
5) airflow
chi is the flow of energy and air is the flow of life. no matter how many feng shui principles you apply, if you don’t have free-flowing fresh air in your room, all that chi will cease to exist. make sure you have plenty of fresh, natural air. open the windows and let yourself breathe.
Feng shui has been around for centuries and is as popular today as ever. From celebrities to interior designers, from spiritual gurus to everyday people, the principles of feng shui are simple and make perfect sense. enjoy a restful night’s sleep by applying the basics of feng shui.
